SIR,
II.
With reference to H.K.P. General Order No. 91 of 1947 Part One, REMINDER. I respectfully beg to point out that in our reply to the Memorandum dated 29/1/47 para. 5 states :-
"We are grateful for the extension to 15/2/47 whereby careful
consideration can be made, but, should a satisfactory conclusion not be reached, further deferment would be appreciated".
Resulting from this we received your minute dated 13/2/47 serial No. 482/13/2/47 - in which at (b) you stated, "the option cannot be extended beyond 15th. July 1947"
The replies contained in this minute were fully discus s ed resulting in my minute dated 21/2/47 wherein we requested that our Memorandum dated the 29/1/1947 be forwarded to the Rt. Hon. the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
By your minute dated 20/3/1947 serial No. 1115/21/3/47 we were informed that our petition had so been forwarded to the S. of S.
By the fact that a satisfactory conclusion was not reached locally by our reply of 29/1/47 to the Memorandum thereby making it necessary for us to refer the subject matter to the Rt. Hon. the Secretary of State for the Colonies, from whom we hope to receive
complete satisfaction.
To date no reply has been received which we hope when received will be fully replied to and satisfactory to all.
We are grateful for the extension granted us to 15/7/47, but as no reply has been received from the Rt. Hon the Secretary of State for the Colonies, we feel that the date for complying with the option should be left opeh until such time as this reply is received in which it is possible that the Secretary of State may make a directive on this point.
Sd.
Inspector 12th. July, 1947.
